Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

Will drop you a message when I get a free afternoon, would be great to tag along!

I did my first proper European airline flight since my old FSX days ... took an Easyjet A320 from Luton to Turin with real time and real weather ... and just wow! This game has blown me away a few times with the graphics but immersion wise, sunrise over the continent and a night approach over Turin left me speechless. This game has come so far! With a widescreen monitor, TrackIR and a joystick it's got to be some of the best sim flying i've ever done. Still getting used to the Airbus as I've always flown Boeing but enjoying it, just wish there were a few more systems and buttons working but it's a default a/c afterall and most things work okay.

On stand at Luton:

Heading out - love the fact that we get gradient on runways now! Such a simple thing but makes a difference.

Southern England from an airliner in the Summer is a very recognisable sight and this is pretty close!

South coast behind us now

Sun is starting to set

Going for the ILS approach to 35

Time to see how to land this thing... been doing lots of circuits and landing challenges etc to get used to it but this is the most stable approach i've had!

Image

Not quite the centreline but I've done worse!

On stand! Night lighting is fantastic, both around the airport/city and with the a/c, everything looks and feels very real!

All shut down and resting before the return trip!

Graphics are insane. Too bad the AP on the airliners is close to awful. VNAV doesn't work for crap and the takeoff phase is really bad as well. Can't wait for PMDG to bring us the real deal.

We finished our cross country. Sorry I stopped posting but had a hectic few days lately. I plan to put the pics up sometime soon, just don't know when.

Here's the last leg: Las Vegas to Los Angeles and finishing the whole 26 hours of trip. Full map of it bellow as well.

Passing over The Strip

180º and on to California

Beyond the hill is LA

Here we are

After 26 hours of flight and 11 days, we see the coast

180º turn to land at Santa Monica Municipal

Santa Monica Beach (Pier was bellow)

And here we are, 26h15min, 2654nm (4915km) later

Is everything static? Like the sea, traffic etcetera?

Nope. Sea moves, waves rise and stuff taking the winds and moon into account, and boats, cars and airport vehicles roam around freely. Cars of course arent hyper accurately modeled behaviour wise but boats and planes are.

plane traffic in the sim is the same as in real life. so if you see a plane in the sim flying, its flying in real life in that spot too

Not necessarily, you can turn that on and off to your liking. There are 2 fields with 3 options each:

Multiplayer: Off (you see no people with their planes), Live players (you only see those with this turned on), all players (you see all who have live turned on, or multiplayer off as a whole).

Traffic (non human flown airplanes): Off (none), AI traffic (same as FSX), Live traffic (Flights downloaded from the net and happening irl, what you say).

So in reality you can see or not see all kinds of traffic.
