What a job for some ram lol. I don't like working on laptops. Hate the small confines of it and my pulse (=hand steadiness) doesn't make me great for them lol.

Saves you a lot of money to do ir yourself though! Glad it still works lol

Well yea, it kinda makes sense if the company offers more variants of the same model (more RAM, bigger SSD etc...).
If they made upgrades dead easy, everyone would just buy the cheapest model and upgrade parts themselves for less money. :D

It's all good until other companies start using Apple business model. No upgrades what so ever, what you pick when you buy it is what you're stuck with forever.
Everything is soldered together! Older laptops could have been upgraded with more RAM or better SSD with ease. But with new models, you're shit out of luck.

that's not how it works. it would usually be more expensive to upgrade for the end user. companies get parts for lower cost

Huh, I thought the liberty of picking parts and brands of my choosing would be cheaper. But I understand that manufacturers get it for cheaper cause of bulk order.

well im not 100% sure about normal laptops. its not always you can upgrade everything. or sometimes you cant add more, you need to replace both sticks to bigger capacity and so on, but yea i get what you mean :emoji2:

It was possible before and that's what people did. Get the cheapest MacBook and order upgrade parts on eBay.
That's not possible anymore since parts are soldered and the ones which aren't use some kind of Apple's proprietary connector making it very difficult to upgrade.

They did a similar thing with phones. Say your camera breaks and you order a cheaper replacement part from eBay.
Now the software in the newest OS detects it's not an OEM camera and disables the camera completely until you go to the Apple service.
Same goes for battery, screen, you name it... I hate that. :emoji58:

you need a tool to reprogram it and it will work, i think its the same shit with batteries. apple is the worst when it comes to right to repair
